We made cream slices in school. They are so easy to make and the ingredients are very simple. Turn on the oven to 180 degrees. Get a large rectangular baking tray.
Take the pastry out of the fridge and let it thaw to room temperature. Roll it out and cut into rectangles to your chosen length. Use the greaseproof paper under the pastry as your lining for your baking tray. Place the pastry rectangles on the tray and slightly apart from each other. Put the tray into the oven for 10-15 mins until they have risen and lightly brown.
Allow to cool on a baking tray. Whip up cream and when it is nearly ready add in a little sugar to sweeten.
Once the rectangles are cold, slice them in half and open up laying the two parts in front of you, like two pieces of bread for a sandwich. Put some cream on one half and put some jam on the other side, then close the two sides together, shake a little icing sugar over the top of each slice to finish.
