We went on our school tour to Rosscarbery yesterday. Our Tour was in two parts, before lunch we went to the Lagoon Activity Centre and then in the afternoon we went to Smuggler’s Cove Adventure Golf.
Before the morning started, each pupil put on a life jacket and secured it firmly. Then before each activity the pupils were given lessons on how to master the activity properly and how to be safe doing it.
At the Lagoon Centre they divided the pupils into two groups, the younger group went Kayaking and then they went out in paddle boats, including three members of staff!
It was lovely to see them go out in pairs on the kayaks. Each giving support to each other.
The older group went out doing SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding), they had to learn to balance themselves on board first by sitting, then standing. This is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide and it is great for your heart and lungs and toning the body. But most importantly, it is great fun. The Senior group concluded their morning with a kayak session.
After lunch, the pupils had a half hour in a maze with dead-ends and high towers, trying to find words (a bit like a scavenger hunt), then we went in groups to play Crazy Golf, the course is beautiful, some of the greens were very challenging while others were easier, but that’s the fun of the game. The little rafts to get you from one area to another are a real “cool” addition to the course.
Thanks to all the staff, who helped to make our day, really memorable. The kids loved their tour, they went home absolutely wreck but very happy.
