It was a day full of smiles and the colour green. We learned all about St. Patrick and the hard life he led. We talked about famous food associated with Ireland; stew, bacon and cabbage and colcannon. The pupils learnt about why so many countries join us in celebrating our national day; they learnt about why people in the past immigrated out of choice and bout those that immigrated without choice. We discussed symbols associated with Ireland, rainbows, pots of gold and leprechauns……. This led to a fun morning of making funny dancing leprechauns and colouring Celtic knot crosses for the Seniors while the Juniors made shamrock hats our of paper plates and little table top shamrocks. The Junior Room also had special magic green popcorn especially for St Patrick’s Day.
