This week we have been doing a lot of active maths. Measurement has been our theme. At the beginning of the week many of the classes were estimating and measuring both in the classroom and outside in the playground.
On Thursday we all learnt about weight. Then the pupils made cookies. They were divided into 4 groups, each group had to measure out their flour, sugar and butter. They also needed one egg for the cookies. First they creamed the softened butter and sugar together. Then they added the beaten egg and slowly added the sieved flour.
The mixture looked like a dough. Then they rolled it into a sausage shape and covered it with cling film and put it in the fridge for about an hour. the mixture was then taken out and sliced and put trays covered with baking paper and baked for 8-10 mins.
After the biscuits cooled the pupils and iced and decorated them.
Today some of the youngest members of the school learned about capacity and had a great time outside with Stephanie our Swiss trainee teacher.
